Volunteer Tour Guide

Description

Tour guides will be the face of the organization to our tour participants, and will help connect travelers with women who are applying for interest-free loans. They will be responsible for introducing tour participants to the ideas of microfinance, our program and model, the Oaxacan communities we work with, and the women in our program. They will facilitate an exchange between women and travelers visiting Oaxaca. Tours are crucial and important part of our program and provide the funding for our programs.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a big impact, and create a lasting connection to women in Oaxaca. There is room to grow professionally and personally in leadership, presentation skills, fundraising, and interpersonal skills, plus the opportunity to improve Spanish language skills within the rich cultural community of Oaxaca, Mexico. Tour guides will have the opportunity to assist in the growth of the organization.

A commitment to female empowerment, community development, and ending poverty are essential. Flexibility to volunteer in a growing non-profit with limited resources is fundamental.

We generally have two guides lead each tour. These guides are both responsible for leading excellent tours, and sharing the work we are doing with tour participants. One tour guide will present our organization through an orientation given at the start of the tour, and the other guide will translate the conversations with the women.
